How do I invite or create a user?
Invite teammates from Settings > Users, assign a role, and fine-tune permissions.
Purpose
Every teammate gets their own login with a role that controls what they can see and do. This article covers inviting a new user, choosing their role, and adjusting individual permissions.
Who can use this
Administrators with user-management permissions.
Steps
- 1Go to Settings > Users (/settings/users).
- 2Click "Invite user".
- 3Enter the person's name and email address.
- 4Choose a role. Built-in roles include: Super Admin, Property Manager, Accountant, Leasing Agent, Maintenance Staff, Compliance Manager, Employee, Property Owner, and Read-only User.
- 5Optionally adjust individual permission overrides — you can grant or deny specific permissions on top of the role's defaults.
- 6Send the invitation. The user receives an email with a secure link to set their password.
- 7Once they accept, they appear as active in the user list and can sign in at your normal login page.
Important notes
- Roles are per company. If a user belongs to several companies, set their role in each one.
- Permission overrides are deny-first: an explicit deny always wins over a role grant.
- Partners / owners do NOT go through Settings > Users — they get portal logins from their owner profile instead. See "How do I create a partner / owner login?".
- Invitations expire for security. You can re-send an invitation from the user list at any time.

Related permissions
User management permissions (admin-level). Each role's defaults are visible when you select it.
Common mistakes
- Inviting an owner as a staff user. Owners belong in the partner portal, not the back office.
- Granting Super Admin "temporarily" and forgetting to downgrade it later.
