Sales & Owner Lead Management

How do I assign commission to a sales agent or partner?

How commission tracking works in V1: record who sourced the deal and the agreed percentage, and report on it.

Purpose

Explains how to credit a sales agent or referral partner for a won owner, and what Rentivue does — and does not — automate for commissions today.

Answer

In the current version, commission is TRACKED, not automatically paid out. You record who sourced a deal and the agreed rate, and use reports to calculate what is owed. There is no automated commission payout run yet — be aware of that when setting expectations with agents.

Steps

  1. 1On each owner lead, record the source and the responsible sales agent so every won deal is attributable.
  2. 2For referral partners (for example agencies or vendors who send you owners), create the partner in the Marketplace (/marketplace) and set their commission percentage on the partner record.
  3. 3Note the agreed commission terms on the lead or partner record so the paper trail is complete.
  4. 4When the lead is signed and converted, the attribution (agent, campaign, partner) stays linked to the owner.
  5. 5Use Marketing and sales reports to list won deals per agent or partner for the period, and calculate commission from the recorded percentages.
  6. 6Pay the commission through your normal payroll or accounts-payable process, and record it as an expense if you want it reflected in company financials.

Important notes

  • Honest limitation: V1 does not generate commission invoices or payouts automatically. Tracking is via lead attribution, marketplace partner records (commission percent), and reports.
  • Keep the commission percentage on the marketplace partner record up to date — reports read from it.
  • Campaign attribution shows which marketing spend produced which owners, which is often the fairest basis for splits.

FAQ

Can an agent see their own commission report?
Give the agent access to the relevant reports; per-agent self-serve commission statements are not a built-in feature yet.
