How do I block dates for owner personal use?
Owners request personal-use dates from their portal; your team approves and the calendar is blocked.
Purpose
Owners often want to stay in their own property. Rentivue handles this with a request-and-approve flow so personal stays never collide with guest bookings, and both sides have a record.
Who can use this
Owners (from the partner portal) and your staff (from the back office). Requires the Short-Term Rental module; the portal flow also requires the Owner Portal module and personal-use permission for the owner.
Steps
- 1OWNER SIDE: the owner opens Personal Use in their portal (/partner/personal-use) and submits a request with the dates and any note.
- 2Rentivue checks the dates against the live calendar — the owner sees immediately if dates are unavailable.
- 3YOUR SIDE: the request appears under Owners > Personal Use (/owners/personal-use) as pending.
- 4Review the request. Check the calendar impact and any revenue trade-off for high-season dates.
- 5Approve or decline, optionally with a message back to the owner.
- 6On approval, the dates are blocked on the property calendar exactly like a reservation — guests can no longer book them.
- 7The owner sees the updated status in their portal.
Steps (blocking dates yourself)
- 1Staff can also record personal use directly from Owners > Personal Use without waiting for a portal request — useful when the owner calls instead.
Important notes
- Approved personal use participates in double-booking prevention: guest reservations cannot overlap it, and it cannot be approved over an existing reservation.
- Personal-use nights are typically not charged to guests, but cleaning after an owner stay can still generate a cleaning task and cost per your owner agreement.
- Declining a request keeps a record — nothing is deleted.
Common mistakes
- Approving personal use without checking pending direct-booking requests for the same dates.
FAQ
- Can an owner cancel an approved stay?
- Yes — the cancellation frees the dates and notifies your team.
