Company Setup

What is the difference between a management company and a property?

Company = a separate workspace with its own books, users and owners; property = a real asset inside it.

Purpose

Rentivue has two levels of structure that are easy to confuse: management companies and properties. Choosing the right one matters, because it decides whether data is shared or separated.

Answer

A MANAGEMENT COMPANY is a fully separate workspace. It has its own properties, owners, users, roles, finances, module settings, and reports. Use a second company when you run a legally or operationally separate business.

A PROPERTY is a real asset the company manages: a building, house, or unit set. Every property belongs to exactly one company.

Example: "ABC Property Management" is one company managing 40 properties — 12 short-term and 28 long-term. All 40 properties, their owners, and their finances live in that single company, and the management type on each property decides which workflows apply to it.

Important notes

  • Use a second COMPANY for separation (separate books, separate users, separate owners).
  • A property belongs to one company forever.
  • To present a property differently to guests, use its direct-booking site settings rather than a second company.

FAQ

Can two companies share a property?
No. A property lives in exactly one company.
How do I keep short-term and long-term work apart inside one company?
Set each property's management type. Long-term properties stay out of the short-term screens, and the reverse.
