Double booking warning
What the double-booking warning means, and how to resolve a genuine conflict safely.
Purpose
Rentivue refused to save a reservation (or a date change) with a double-booking warning. This explains what triggered it and the safe ways to resolve a real conflict.
Possible causes
- The new dates overlap an existing confirmed reservation by at least one night.
- The dates overlap an approved owner personal-use stay or a manual block.
- Two teammates processed bookings for the same nights at the same time — the second save is correctly rejected.
- An external-channel booking was recorded in Rentivue after the same nights were sold directly (a true operational double-sell).
How to check
- 1Open STR > Calendar for the property and inspect the exact nights named in the warning.
- 2Identify the conflicting item: reservation (which guest, which channel), personal use, or block.
- 3Check timestamps — who created the conflicting item, and when.
How to fix
- 1If your new booking is the mistake: choose different dates or a comparable property for the guest.
- 2If the conflict is a stale block: remove the block, then save the reservation again.
- 3If two real guests bought the same nights (external channel overlap): decide which booking stands — usually the earlier one — and rebook or compensate the other guest per your policy. Do this immediately; these only get worse.
- 4Tighten process: record channel bookings in Rentivue as soon as they land, so its calendar stays the source of truth.
When to contact support
If you get the warning but genuinely cannot find any overlapping item on the calendar for those nights, contact support (category: Reservation issue) with the property, the dates, and the exact warning text.
Important notes
- The warning is a protection, not an error. Rentivue never lets a save silently overwrite existing calendar claims — every conflict becomes an explicit human decision.
